Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet neighbourhood situated in The West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" spot. It is the West Island, to those who are unfamiliar with it, is a large region that runs from Lachine up to the west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on West Island, although this is not true. Brugel lived in Courtice close to Oshawa Ontario. Early ambitions were to be the best performer in the world, however, she simply outgrew her dance partners. She admitted in an article that was published in The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. When I grew out of my males in my group, I decided to quit. Many former dancers turn to acting, and Brugel was not an exception. A drama teacher at her high school encouraged her in the direction she wanted to go in. She was a teacher at the time who advised her to go after a role in the annual school production. She was the teacher who suggested that she pursue a role in the school's annual play. This Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with the Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts in the year 2000. Since then, Brugel's participated involved in more than 60 productions, both on large screens as well as smaller ones. She gained the most recognition when she landed her character of Rita for the show that won awards. television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian participant on the show in Season 1 of the series, and rarely seen.
